FAQ

How much does a commercial cost?

That depends on a lot of variables.  There are many elements that go into making a commercial, and the more there are, usually the more expensive the ad becomes.  An example:  A single shot of you or your product, with no edits and not effects is much less expensive then a spot that involves 100’s of extras, a helicopter shot, and loads of special effects!  No project is too small or too big.  Daylite Films will sit down with you and decide what works best for your needs and your budget.

When the ad is done, how do I get it on TV and does it cost more money?

DayLite Films is associated with various media buying outlets, and will present those spending options to you at our first meeting.  Placing your ad on television is an additional cost, but like production, has many variables.  An example:  Running your ad at 3 AM on an obscure channel is less expensive than prime time on a popular show.  The frequency of running that ad also determines the cost.  We, along with our media buyers, will work with you to get as much exposure as possible at the best price available.

What if I just want to put the ad on the internet?

If you find that a media buy for TV isn’t an option, the web is a great place to advertise.  DayLite Films does a variety of products for clients that include commercials, corporate testimonials, tutorials, weekly features, history of organizations, general information and introductions, or whatever you may feel that will help your business.

What exactly is a corporate video?

Corporate videos can be a few different things.  They can be a Web 2.0 presentation on your web site.  An instructional internal company training device, some times called an “industrial” video. Companies also use video presentation to welcome new employees or inform an entire organization about changes within their business.  DayLite Films can also do presentations for your company’s annual meetings that are shown to the attendees.  If your CEO wants to address the entire company but you have no live feed to the site, we can shoot a video to be shown.  Corporate videos make for a great “business card” that can be streamed on the internet.

What about using an ad agency?

Ad agencies are a great source of creative input and demographic data.  We welcome the opportunity to work with agencies, but we’re also trying to help you save money.  Agencies can be costly and create a “middle man” between you and DayLite Films. We like to sit down with our clients face to face and ask them how they want to reach their customers.  After all who knows your customers better than you?  Once we get the basics of how you want to reach your customers within your budget, we supply the creative force that drives them to you.  We are a soup to nuts production company-from inception to broadcast.  And we work directly with you through the entire process.  An ad agency would charge your company a fee and then an additional cost for our production with a considerable mark up.  An example:  They would tell you that your commercial is going to cost $5,000 (with out the media buy) and then hire us to do it, under the premise that we have a $3,500 budget to complete the project.

What about radio advertising, how much is a radio ad?

Radio is considerably less expensive than television.  But once again there are variables.  The amount of times that you run an ad and the station you run it on can affect the cost in a very similar way to television.  An example:  Your ad on a Sunday night at 2 AM on a weak signaled station will be much less than running it on a popular National syndicated talk show, on the most listened to station in the market.  If you do the voice work for the ad yourself, you can save money versus using on air talent.  If you don’t want to use your voice, DayLite Films has a wide variety of voice over talent to choose from.  Like TV, the media buy is the key and we’ll be glad to help you do an ad that finds your audience and fits your budget.

Once the work is done do I own it or does DayLite Films?

Your content is owned by you.  You’re our client and the goal at DayLite Films is to help you reach as many people as possible in a creative and cost effective manner.  Relationships are the key in our industry, and when everyone’s happy at the end of a collaborative project, the feeling can’t be beat.  Obviously we want you to be satisfied so you’ll use us again or send clients our way. We like to put your finished products on our web site to reach potential customers for ourselves and possibly for you.  If you don’t want your product or service on our site, you own it, and that’s fine.  We have found that it’s a great way to help both you and DayLite Films by having your presentation on our web site.

What other services do you offer?

We try to limit ourselves to things that we are exceptional at doing, but we also love a challenge!  We prefer you ask us what creative project you’d like us to work on, and if we can’t do it, we’ll be happy to put you in contact with one of our many colleagues in the industry.  We want to see you succeed and we’ll do whatever we can to make that project happen, even if it’s out of our area of expertise.
